Cost-benefit analyses, EIA's

Decisions on investmens, but also on proposed research, are often made with help of cost-benefit analysis. Environmental Impact Assessments are often mandatory for projects concerning rehabilitation, extension or new projects. Infram can support the client in project management of EIA's, for example through a project secretary.

Cost-benefit analysis investigation of Wieringermeer dike in Deltaflume
The placed block revetment of the Wieringermeer dike along the IJssel lake did nog pass the safety assessment and should be replaced. But the core of the dike was made of stiff clay, possibly good wave resistant. The strength of this core could be sufficient to withstands the design storm, but knowledge is lacking. Research in the large Deltaflume is expensive. The cost-benefit analysis, however, showed that is is very useful to perform the proposed research if at least 10% probability is estimated on a positive result of such research. Client: Rijkswaterstaat, Noord-Holland
